Simply Spotless was founded in May 2017 with one clear goal: to make booking a high quality cleaner genuinely simple. At the time, most cleaning companies required customers to submit an enquiry form and wait for a call back. Pricing was unclear. Communication was inconsistent. Booking felt slow and uncertain. We believed there was a better way. Today, Simply Spotless is an independently owned Australian cleaning company servicing Sydney and Melbourne, delivering residential, end of lease, NDIS and commercial cleaning with a strong focus on quality control, transparency and customer satisfaction.

Our Story

Simply Spotless began shortly after our founder, Dean, completed his Masters degree in Organisational Psychology. With a background in Commerce and Psychology, and experience consulting to large international organisations, Dean specialised in human behaviour, systems design and user experience. While the cleaning industry was not his original field, he quickly saw an opportunity to improve it. The problem was not just cleaning. It was the experience around cleaning. Customers wanted:

In our first year, Simply Spotless operated with just one cleaner, servicing suburbs close to Sydney CBD. We focused exclusively on home cleaning and end of lease services. What has remained consistent since day one is our commitment to quality, monitoring performance closely and ensuring customers feel genuinely supported.

Key Milestones

2017

Founded in Sydney with a single cleaner and a focus on residential and end of lease cleaning.

2019

Expanded into commercial and office cleaning in Sydney. 

2020

Began servicing NDIS clients, supporting participants, families and care providers with compliant and compassionate cleaning services.

2022

Expanded operations into Melbourne in August 2022, offering home cleaning and end of lease cleaning.

2025

Launched our new online booking system after years of design, testing and refinement to make booking even easier, faster and more transparent.

Over the next three to five years, we aim to become the obvious choice for cleaning services in Sydney and Melbourne. Not because we are the cheapest. But because we are the most reliable.

Meet Our Founder – Dean

Dean holds:

  • Bachelor of Commerce
  • Diploma in Psychology with Honours
  • Masters in Organisational Psychology

Before starting Simply Spotless, he worked with large international organisations specialising in human resources systems, psychometric assessment and user experience psychology. Although he did not come from a cleaning background, he brought something equally valuable to the industry: close attention to detail, efficient systems and processes, integrity and transparency, ethical decision making, fair treatment of staff, empathy for clients in vulnerable situations, and continuous improvement.

We are also clear about the work we undertake. We do not accept jobs involving biohazards, hoarding environments or requests that fall outside our agreed scope. We also avoid unreasonable pricing negotiations. By setting these boundaries, we protect our team and maintain the high standards our clients expect.

How We Select and Monitor Cleaners

Our cleaners are independent contractors who run their own businesses. We believe in helping people build independence while maintaining strict quality standards. Before joining Simply Spotless, cleaners must:

  • Operate their own registered business with a valid ABN
  • Provide their own professional equipment and products
  • Hold valid public liability insurance
  • Provide current police checks less than 12 months old
  • Submit verified photo identification
  • Have their own vehicle and licence

Recruitment and Onboarding Process

  1.  Application screening against strict requirements
  2. Interview
  3. Live onboarding session covering processes and expectations
  4. Online training program with videos, quizzes and resources
  5. Trial clean
  6. Probation period of 2 to 4 weeks with close performance monitoring

Only cleaners who consistently meet our standards continue working with us.

How We Maintain Quality

Consistency does not happen by accident. It is measured. After every service, customers receive a feedback request. Cleaners are rated out of 5 stars and are expected to maintain a high average rating. If something is missed:

  • The cleaner returns to re-clean free of charge to hold them accountable
  • If unresolved, we provide a refund for the affected areas
  • Ongoing poor performance leads to termination
